Children's Opera
At Beth El

Klezmer Band
In. Concert

An all new adaption of Hansel
and Gretel, Humperdinck's clas-
sic opera for children, will be per-
formed Jan. 14, when Michigan
Opera Theatre takes the stage
at Temple Beth El. The 12:45
p.m. performance is the second
offering of the season for Loren
B. Fischer Cultural Arts Series
for Children and Their Families.
The free performances offer
children an opportunity to enjoy
the arts in an informal atmos-
phere that invites audience par-
ticipation. The series is a gift to
the community from Philip B.
and Myrna R. Fischer.

The Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit will pre-

The Adat Shalom Synagogue
Men's Club will host young gym-
nasts, ages 2-5, at an afternoon
of supervised gymnastic activi-
ties and games on Sunday, Jan.
14, from 2-4 p.m. Beams, paral-
lel bars and more will be set up
at the Farmington Gymnastics
Center, 23966 Freeway Park
Drive (behind the Holiday Inn'
on Grand River).
The event will include a
songfest and kosher snacks for
everyone. There is a $5 charge
per child. All youngsters must be
accompanied by their parents.
