politics, where Jewish influence
has been well established, can you
tell me about the origin of and rea-
son for the continuity of anti-Semi-
tism?

A: The question you ask has
plagued scholars for years and
has been the subject of numer-
ous books. It draws on so many
subjects, from philosophy and
religion to psychology and his-
tory, that it would be impossi-
ble to fully cover the topic here.
What Tell Me Why can do,
however, is point out some of
the leading causes for anti-
Semitism, starting with the
New Testament.
Although Christianity can-
not be blamed for all the hatred
of Jews, without a doubt it
shares a major burden of the
blame. The New Testament
inarguably contains numerous
anti-Semitic passages, and for
years Christians have been
taught "it was the Jews who
killed Jesus." What were you
supposed to feel if not hatred
for the people who not only re-
jected but killed your lord?

Jews have been committed in
the name of Christianity, all
with the support of church lead-
ers.

Semitism is probably due to
the fact that some Jews —
specifically those who are ob-
servant — don't look and act
