Temple Israel
Chanukah Plans
Temple Israel will hold a Fami-
ly Chanukah Shabbat dinner on
Friday, Dec. 22, at 6:15 p.m. at
the temple. This special dinner
and Shabbat service will high-
light the foods and rituals of the
holiday. In addition, there will be
special treats for the children.
Following the dinner, Israeli
dancing with the children will
conclude the celebration.
At 8 p.m., family Shabbat Ser-
vices and December birthday
blessings will be held in the sanc-
tuary.

Emanu-El
Plans Classes
Space is available for Temple
Emanu-El's Introduction to Ju-
daism course. Classes will begin
on Thursday, Jan. 11 and will
meet for 14 weeks from 8-9:30
p.m.
Adult Hebrew courses also will
be offered on Thursday evenings.

tion Beit Kodesh will give a lec-
ture/concert, "Poets of Tin Pan
Alley," 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
19, at the synagogue.
The commentary will consist
of the Jewish contribution to the
American musical stage, 1914-
1945. Musical examples in con-
temporary jazz settings will be
performed by Rabbi Allen on key-
board and his guest artist, Glenn
Bering, on bass.
