Sempliner Super Sunday Calls Planned Bagels, Books Discussion Set This year, a new or increased Su- per Sunday pledge to Campaign '96 of the Jewish Federation of Washtenaw County will be dou- bled. A local philanthropist has agreed to match dollar-for-dollar all increased pledges and all new pledges to the Jewish Federa- tion's Campaign '96 from persons who confirm a pledge with a phone volunteer on Super Sun- day. Super Sunday will take place on Sunday, Jan. 28, when vol- unteers for the Super Sunday Phone-athon gather at the Jew- ish Community Center. Miller. Ms.Wiss is a speaker and fa- cilitator of workshops on Jewish spirituality, meditation and- prayer. She completed an in- ternship with Rabbi Schaecter- Shalomi's spiritual Eldering In- stitute in Philadelhia and is en- rolled in the doctorate of ministry program at the Ecumenica The- ology Seminary in Detroit. She also is performing a hospital chaplaincy internship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Youth Go Cave Exploring Adventurous 12-15 year olds are invited to participate in a cave exploring trip sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Washtenaw County at the Chapel Valley Speleological Site (Cave System) in Bloomington, Ind.,Sunday and Monday, Dec. 24 and 25. The trip will be under the direction of Craig Pollack, youth coordinator for the Jewish Community Center of Washte- naw County, and Ryan Steam, a caregiver in the JCC Kid's Kon- nection after school program. Mr. Pollack has designed an experience that will challenge participants to problem solve within a safe and supportive group environment. Mr. Pollack, who is 30, has a number of years experience lead- ing wilderness survival classes and trips for both youths and adults in the United States and Canada and has worked as a res- ident naturalist at both Tama- rack Camps and Waterloo Outdoor Education Center. Ryan Stearn has participated in spelunking trips in South Dako- ta, Alaska, and Israel. He is also certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Trip participants will sleep at a motel near the caving site and all meals will be provided (meat products will be kosher). A van will depart from the JCC at 7 a.m., Sunday, and arrive back at the JCC at 8 p.m., Monday. The trip fee is $75 for JCC members, $90 for non-members and in- cludes all transportation, meals, accommodations and equipment. For information, call the JCC, 971-0990. Mt.
