Chanukah Lights
At Beth Shalom

On Sunday, Dec. 24, Congregation
Beth Shalom will present "1001
Lights." For all those who will be
spending the holidays at home,
bring a Chanukiyot (Chanukah
menorah) and light Chanukah
candles together. The cost is $2

The program will start with a
light supper from 5-5:30 p.m., fol-
lowed by candlelighting form
5:30-6 p.m. With the help of their
parents, children will make
latkes for dessert from 6-7 p.m.

come. This program made
possible as a recipient of a grant
from the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, Max Fish-

Emanu-El
Offers Classes

Temple Emanu-El's next session
of Introduction to Judaism will
begin on Thursday, Jan. 11. The
class meets for 14 weeks from 8-
9:30 p.m. Topics to be covered in-
clude history, lifecycle events,
prayer, worship, holidays, and
God-concepts. The course is open
to all who are interested in learn-
ing about Judaism.
Adult Hebrew courses also will
be offered on Thursday evenings.
Beginning, advanced beginners,
and intermediate Hebrew class-
es begin on Jan. 11 as well. For

Rabbi Paul Tuchman will pre-
sent "Encounters With Elijah" at
Temple Emanu-El on Monday
evenings, Jan. 8-29. The course

ine the many facets of Elijah's
personality and influence. The
