Vicki Goldbaum,
Southfield Councilwoman

Vicki Harriet Goldbaum, 58, of Southfield, died
Dec. 5. Mrs. Goldbaum, Southfield council-
woman, was recently reelected to another four-
year term on the council.
During her years on the council, Mrs. Gold-
baum served in various positions
including council president pro-
tem, chairman of the Finance
Committee, chairman of the
Neighborhood Services Com-
mittee, chairman of the Council
Legislative Committee, chair-
man of the Site Plan Committee.
Mrs. Goldbaum was an active
member of the Michigan Mu-
nicipal League and was vice
president of its board of directors.
She was honored by the MML
board with a Special Award of
Merit in 1992. She sat on the
MML's Women in Municipal
Government's board of directors
and served as its chair in 1985-
86.
Regionally, Mrs. Goldbaum
Vicki Goldbaum
served on the Southeast Michi-
gan Council of Governments
Committee on Environmental Strategy and its
ad hoc committee. On the national level, she was
active in the National League of Cities, serving
on its community and economic development
policy committee and steering committee. She
held a governor's appointment to the Michigan
Underground Tank Board.
Among her accomplishments was the publi-

West Bloomfield, died Dec. 4.
Mrs. Applebaum was the
beloved wife of the late Alexan-
der Applebaum, the loving
mother of the late Kenneth Ap-
plebaum and the adoring
grandmother of the late Ronald
Iskow.
She is survived by her daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Phyllis
Pazner of West Bloomfield,
Elaine and Julius Iskow of West
Bloomfield, Shirley and Mark
Singerman of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Sher and Sandy
Kaplan, Laura Rogers, Bruce
and Anita Pazner, Howard and
Ann Iskow, Jeffrey Iskow, Carol
and John Allen, Carol and Jay
Pomerantz, Lowell and Linda
Singerman, Susan and Marc
Andrews, Eric Applebaum; 12
great-grandchildren. Interment
at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Goldbaum was active on the Southfield
Arts Council. She received a Michigan PTA Ser-
vice Award in 1977 and a Certificate of Appre-
ciation from the Bicentennial
Commission.
"Vicki Goldbaum will be re-
membered for her devotion, ded-
ication and commitment to the
city of Southfield and its people,"
said administrator Robert Block.
Active in the Jewish commu-
nity, Mrs. Goldbaum was a life
member of the National Council
of Jewish Women, B'nai B'rith
Women and Hadassah. Her oth-
er affiliations included member-
ship in the local chapter of the
NAACP, the Detroit Interfaith
Roundtable, Southfield Histori-
cal Society, Southfield Business
and Professional Women's Club,
Creative Arts Council of Oakland
University Women.
Mrs. Goldbaum is survived by
her husband, Raymond; daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Fred Dia-
mond, Yael and Ethan Gross; three grandchil-
dren; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and
Gerald Goldberg; brother, Allan Marston.

Ross-Atler of Oak Park, Sandy
and Fred Imber of Southfield;

her master's degree in social
work from Loyola University
and her bachelor darts from
the University of Michigan.
She is survived by her son,

win and Rosalyn Wittcoff of
Southfield; sister, Susan
Wittcoff of Oakland, Calif.;
brother; Paul Wittcoff of Chica-
go. Interment at Clover Hill

ALEXANDER DISKIN, 84, of
West Bloomfield, died Nov. 28.
Mr. Diskin was the beloved
