Fundamentalists
Die In Lebanon

Jerusalem (JTA) — Israel De-
fense Forces killed two members
of Islamic fundamentalist groups
who tried to enter the central sec-
tor of the southern Lebanon se-
curity zone.
IDF soldiers in an army tank
spotted the two men and began
to shell the area, Israel Televi-
sion reported.
A statement from Beirut said
the two men were from the Pop-
ular Front for the Liberation of
Palestine and the Democratic
Front for the Liberation of Pales-
tine.
Meanwhile, the Golani battal-
ion that lost nine soldiers in re-
cent roadside bombings in
southern Lebanon ended its ac-
tive duty in the security zone.
The IDF chief of staff was
scheduled to hold a final probe
into the attacks to determine
whether steps should be taken
against the officers who directed
the troops' activities.
