Mr. Milstein was a decorted veteran of World War II, who joined the Navy at age 17 and served in North Africa, and the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. His career in the industrial linen and uniform industry spanned almost 50 years. In re- cent years he served as a "trou- ble-shooter" for facilities throughout the Southwest. After his formal retirement, he returned to the Detroit area where he continued to work ac- tively as a consultant to the in- dustry. Mr. Milstein is survived by his wife, Gertrude, his wife of more than 49 years; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jeanne of Oak Park; daughter and son-in-law, Shelly Milstein and Daniel Tukel of West Bloomfield; grandson, Jeff Mil- stein. ARLEEN G. SCHWARTZ, 56, of Farmington Hills, died Nov. 28. Mrs. Schwartz was a honors mathematics teacher at the Greenhills School in Ann Arbor. Mrs. Schwartz graduated magna cum laude and Phil Beta Kapa with a master's de- gree in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963. She taught high school and college level and received numerous teaching awards. Mrs. Schwartz received the outstanding faculty member award at Greenhills and wrote a book used as text for basic computer programming, Book of Basic. She also recently re- ceived the Pauline McMillan DeLay Teaching Award. Mrs. Schwartz was a member of the National Mathematics and Teachers Groups. She is survived by her hus- band of 32 years, Mark Schwartz of Farmington Hills; daughters, Judith Ann Schwartz of Chicago, Deborah Lynn Schwartz of Char- lottesville, Va.; parents, William and Frieda Ginsburg of Sunrise, Fla.; sister, Marilyn Nathanson of Flushing, N.Y.
