LAYA (LEE) HANNAH FAU-
MAN ALLEN, 78, of Toronto,
died Nov. 13. She was the
daughter of the late Dr. David
H. Fauman and Rose Birnbaum
Fauman; beloved wife of the late
Gurston Sidney Allen.
Mrs. Allen graduate from
Wayne State University summa
cum laude with a post-graduate
study in social work. She was
the first chairman of the Volun-
teer Services Committee of the
Toronto Welfare Council and of
the Volunter Services Commit-
tee of the Jewish Home for
Aged. Mrs. Allen was an active
member of Hadassah, ORT, and
the Holy Blossom Sisterhood.
She served on the boars of the
Women's Auxiliary of Mount
Sinai Hospital and the Ontario
Science Center. In additon, she
was a strong supporter of the
Stratford Festival, Canadian
Opera Association and the Art
Gallery of Toronto.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her
daughters and sons-in-law, Ju-

the board of directors for Peoples
Bank and Old Kent Bank.
He was the dear brother of
the late Phillip Ellias. Mr. El-
