President's Column by Neal F. Zalenko s the newly elected President of the Jewish National Fund Council of Michigan, I would like to I would 14,.. thank the Board of Directors for their confidence in me to lead JNF for the next two years. , and to the former presidents for - like to express appreciation to the Past President, Eli Schen their efforts in realizing the outstanding growth of the JNF during the last 15 years. With the assistance of the leadership ofJNF and with that of the community, I hope we will continue to merit everyone's support. Now more than ever before in our history, NF is leading the way in improving the quality of life for all residents in Israel. The importance in establishing parks and forests offers the necessary respite for both old and young; the building of roads to access residents in rural settlements; the construction of water reservoirs and other water harvesting pro- jects; the participation in agricultural experimentation leading to advancements in agricultural technology and methodology in research ... all have and will continue to make JNF the catalyst agency in providing the quality of life for all Israelis and all of mankind. To accomplish the goals cited above, your support will be crucial. I hope we can count on your assistance and I look forward to the day when peace will reign over Israel and the entire world. The loss of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin is a tragedy for all mankind. We all mourn the passing of Israel's head of state as if we had lost a member of our own family. Our hearts are filled with sadness and we convey to Leah, the chil- dren and grandchildren our sincerest wishes of condolence and hope that G-d will comfort The Rabin Family among all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. A special Jewish National Fund Project, honoring the memory of Prime Minister Rabin, will be established after the mourning period.
