Odyssey, the American Jewish
Committee, Detroit Chapter's
programming for Jewish singles,
will kick off its "Escape the Cold
(Brrr) Series" with an opening
program 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.
28, at the Birmingham Commu-
nity House.
"Cameras in the Courtroom"
will be the evening's focus. Detroit
attorney Hershel Fink, who rep-
resented "Court TV" in the Mal-
ice Green case and often
represents news organizations in
courtroom access cases, will be
the speaker. He will review the
debate over televised coverage
looking at such cases as the 0. J.
Simpson case.
Jewish singles in their 30s and
plus years are invited. There is a
charge of $5 per person at the
door. Refreshments will follow the
speaker's presentation.
Other programs in the series
incldue "An Exploration of La-
bor/Management Relations" with
representatives from a Detroit
major corporation and the AFL-
CIO, a "Shabbat for the Novice"
Friday night dinner and a "Tu
B'Shevat Seder for the Hungry,"
at which Jewish singles will be
asked to bring cans, boxes and
bags of dried fruit and nuts. This
program series runs through Feb-
ruary 1996.
For information about Odyssey
or the American Jewish Com-
mittee, call Sharona Shapiro,
(810) 646-7686.
