Jazz And Blues
After-hours recently found
employees and clients of Marx
Layne & Co., a marketing
and public relations firm, in
Greektown for an evening of jazz
and blues. Guests were treated
to ethnic cuisine and the sounds
of the Buddy Budson/Ursula
Walker sextet and the Rod Hicks
Trio.
In the picture: Karen Magid-
sohn, vice president and direc-
tor of marketing of the
Flint-based Citizens Banking
Corporation and Flint Jewish
Federation board member, joins
Andrea Stone and Doug
Stone, executive vice
president of the South-
field-based Stone and Si-
mons Advertising.

Nov. 5 was quite a cut-
up. The show was
Shear Madness, a who-
dunit comedy with a lo-
calized
script for
metro-Detroit
con-
sumption. That trans-
lates into: lots of Inkster
and Detroit PD jokes.
The evening raised
money for MJAC, which
sponsors community fo-
rums, conducts educa-
tional seminars and
offers referral and sup-
port on matters of AIDS
and HIV. Founded in
1991, the organization is fueled
by its volunteer efforts.
"AIDS affects the Jewish pop-
ulation. It's just kind of an un-
spoken fact right now," says
Sheri Lee, MJAC chairperson
of the Shear Madness planning
committee.
On the committee with Ms.
Lee were Gary Anders,
Michael Daitch, Sue Efros,
Sue Ellen Eisenberg, Ron
Elkus, Eileen Isenberg, Lin-
da Lee, Susie Leemaster, An-
drea Nitzkin, Michelle
Passon, Cheryl Riskin, Julie
Yolles and Katey Zack.
Now, the group is looking for
20 and 30-somethings to form a
young adult MJAC division.
The purpose: to get together
and collectively out-
reach to teen-agers who
listen better when safe-
sex talk comes from
people close to their
age. For more informa-
tion, call (810) 356-
2123.

That's right. By
