The 19th Annual Jewish Book
Fair runs Nov. 4-12, at the
Bathurst Jewish Centre. A wide
spectrum of books and lectures
will be on the agenda. Numerous
guest speakers, theatrical and
musical programs are all part of
the fair, which is a great place for
mixing and meeting people.
The world premiere of the
opera Red Emma will be pre-
sented by the Canadian Opera
Company Nov. 23 to Dec. 3.
Based on the life of Emma Gold-
man, the opera will make its de-
but at the Du Maurier Theatre
Centre.
An International Jewish Mu-
sic Concert will be held Sunday,
Nov. 26, at the Bassett Theatre
in the Metro Convention Centre.
The Toronto Symphony Orches-
tra's Pops Concerts are scheduled
for Nov. 20-22 (waltzes by J.
Strauss Jr.), Nov. 29-30 (Ravel),
Dec. 2-4 (Berlioz), and Dec. 6-7
(Beethoven).
"Music in the Concentration
Camps," with slides, music, and
Tchaikowsky Pas De Deux Nov.
1-15. The all-new production of
The Nutcracker Suite starts Dec.
21.
The Danny Grossman Com-
pany, known for its humor and
social consciousness, will perform
at the Harbourfront Centre Nov.
28-Dec. 3.
The third largest theatre cen-
ter in the English-speaking
world, Toronto has many plays
running this fall. Gershwin's
Crazy For You, and Disney's
Beauty and the Beast are both
dazzling productions. Donald
Margulies' play, Sight Unseen,
directed by Al Waxman, will be
at the Ford Centre until Nov. 12.
A newly opened production of
Sunset Boulevard, as well as The
Phantom of the Opera, Forever
Plaid, The Who's Tommy and
many other plays all promise an
evening of top entertainment.
Buttons On Broadway, with
Red Buttons, comes to the Royal
Alexandra Theatre on Nov. 20.
