The Conservative Movement Scholar In Residence Commu- nity Gathering will celebrate Jerusalem's TriMillenium in an evening, of art, music and study. This special evening, marking Jerusalem's 3000th anniversary since the time of King David, is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Congregation B'nai Moshe. The Detroit Cantors' Council led by Cantor Howard Glantz has assembled a musical pro- gram with songs capturing Jerusalem's importance for Jews throughout the generations. Fea- tured soloists will include: Howard Glantz, Adat Shalom; Cantor Samuel Greenbaum, Beth Shalom; Ben-Zion Lanxn- er, Beth Abraham Hillel Moses; Chaim Najman, Shaarey Zedek; Harold Orbach, Temple Israel; and Max Shimansky, Beth Achim. In Addition, they will be joined by Cantors Israel Idel- sohn, Downtown Synagogue; Louis Klein, Bnai Moshe; Sidney Rube, Shaarey Zedek; Larry Vieder, Adat Shalom; and Bar- ry Ulrich, Bnai David. Raquel Pomerantz Gershon has corn- posed a new song, "Jerusalem" for the occasion. Children enrolled in Conserv- ative congregation religious schools have been invited to de- pict Jerusalem through art work which will be on display. The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at Hillel Day School have created a mural which shows Jerusalem at the center of Jewish life. Rabbi Reuven Hammer will speak on "Jerusalem In Jewish Consciousness." Historic Torah Is Dedicated East Lansing's Congregation Shaarey Zedek received a Sifre Torah through the gift of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Soifer, in honor of their daughter Marci's bat mitz- vah. This Torah from a syna- gogue in Moravaske Budejovice, near Trebic still has its original Nazi label on it. On Friday, Nov. 10, at 8:15 p.m. Congregation. Zedek will dedicate te Torah; the dedication coincides with the anniversary of "Kristall- nacht."
