Health Check
Sinai Hospital and the Jewish
Community Center in Oak
Park will host "Health Check,"
a free community health-edu-
cation program, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 13, at the Oak
Park JCC. Free services include
cholesterol, vision and hearing
screenings, as well as lung ca-
pacity checks. Medical profes-
sionals will be on hand to
answer general health ques-
tions. For more information,

Support
"Women Today Support Group"
is a free, self-help group for
women attempting to work
through conflicts or concerns or
who want more information on
methods of self-improvement.
Shirley Black, an accredited so-
cial worker, leads the discus-
sions. This group meets on the
third Saturday of the month
from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. at
Crittenton Hospital in
Rochester. For more informa-

Volunteers
Interested in volunteering time
and talent? Kenny Rehab, a
United Way-supported human-
service agency, is seeking adult
volunteers for the following pro-
grams to benefit people with
disabilities: an "attitudes
teacher" to present a 45-minute
disability awareness program
for first- and second-graders us-
ing creative discussion, a video
and hands-on activities; an "at-
titudes scheduler"; an infor-
mation and referral assistant;
and office assistant. For more

Parenting
"How To Survive Your Child's
Adolescence" will be held 7 to 9
p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the
Wilkinson Middle School on
John R, between 10 and 11
Mile roads. The workshop is
sponsored by Madison Heights-
Clawson Community Educa-
tion and it will be led by
Richard Weiss, who holds an
advanced degree in social work.
The workshop will suggest spe-
cific strategies and coping skills
for parents of teen-agers. The

Obstetrics and Gynecology pre-
sents the first annual Dr. Al-
fred and Mrs. Sandra Sherman
Lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov.
5, in the hospital's Zuckerman
Auditorium on West Outer Dri-
ve in Detroit.
Featured speaker Dr. Joyce-
lyn Elders, former U.S. surgeon
general, will present "The Eth-
ical Role Of the Physician In
Women's Health."
The lecture is free and seat-
ing is on a first-come, first-
served basis. Preregistration is
required due to limited seating.

Klezmer Film
Sinai Hospital's Program for
Holocaust Survivors and Fam-
ilies is sponsoring a Yiddish
Film Festival. Admission is

Klezmer, an award-winning
documentary, will be showing
at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19,
at the West Bloomfield Jewish

Nutrition
"Eating Right For Good Health"
is a new program sponsored by
William Beaumont Hospital. It
aims to help menopausal
women separate fact from fic-
tion when it comes to their spe-
cial nutritional needs. The
program will be held from 7 to
9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at the

Memory
"Memory Tips for Everyday
Living" is a free program dis-
cussing memory changes and
tips for improving your memo-
ry. The program, led by social
