life ought to be. We need to tell
our children that morality some-
times requires that we stand
alone. But in so doing, we achieve
the gift or self-respect that is our
most precious and enduring pos-
session. We need to tell ourselves
that to be Jewish is to be differ-
ent, distinct and unique. The
Jewish way of life as defined by
our heritage is more compas-
sionate, rational, ethical, sensi-
tive and just than the way most
people around us live.
If we permit our selves to be
condemned to live by majority
rule, we descend to the lowest lev-
el in American society.
The world should not deter-
mine, but we should determine
what is best for ourselves. And
when necessary, we should over-
throw the idols to which so many
bow down. 0

Mini-Course
On Computers

Temple Isarel libraries will pre-
sent a free adult computer mini-
course, "Brunch and Learn," on
Fridays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17 from
10 to 11 a.m. in the new media
center. This is an opportunity to
create Chanukah cards, learn to
use the print shop deluxe and
Davka graphics computer pro-
grams.

Hillel Moses will host Rabbi
Reuven Hammer during the
Sara and Menasche Haar Schol-
ar In Residence Weekend of Nov.
3-5.
On Friday, Nov. 3, there will
be services followed by a Shab-
bat dinner. After dinner Rabbi
Hammer will speak on "Is the
Siddur still Relevant?" On Sat-
urday, Nov. 4, he will deliver the
sermon on Lech Lecha. There will
be an extended lunch — kiddush
following services sponsored by
the sisterhood. The topic at this
event if "Rekindling Sabbath
Feeling Through Prayer."
On Staurday evening, there
will be a Shul Chavurot Open
House and Deli Night, the topic
will be "Aliyah: A Personal
View." On Sunday, Nov. 5, the
Men's Club and Judaica Class
will sponsor a Breakfast Forum.
At this event, Rabbi Hammer
will speak on "Jerusalem in the
Bible." The only charge for the
weekend is the Shabbat dinner.
