A panel discussion titled "Edu-
cational Restructuring in Michi-
gan: What Does It Mean for the
Jewish Community?" will be held
on Sunday, Nov. 12, and jointly
sponsored by the Ann Arbor
Chapter of Women's American
ORT, the Community Relations
Committee of the Jewish Feder-
ation of Washtenaw County and
the Jewish Cultural Society.
Panelists will be Marilyn
Lundy, vice president of the
Michigan State Board of Educa-
tion; Kathleen Straus, State
Board of Education member;
Michael David Warren Jr., the
administrative assistant for
School Code Reform in Michigan;
Marlene Gitelman, Hebrew Day
School principal; Mark Cousens,
counsel for the Michigan Feder-
ation of Teachers and School-Re-
lated Personnel; and a
representative of the Anti-
Defamation League.
The forum will focus on pro-
posals to redefine the concept of
schools, which are now coming
before the Michigan State leg-
islature. These proposals could
have a critic21 impact on the pub-
lic schools in Michigan and the
Jewish community.
This forum will be held at the
Jewish Community Center of
Washtenaw County from 10 a.m.
to noon and is free and open to
the public.

Temple Hosts

Fine Art Show

The Birmingham Temple will
hold its 23rd annual Fine Art
Show and Sale Nov. 3-5, with
works of more than 125 artists
of painting, ceramics, sculpture,
jewelry, glass, wood, weaving,
photography.
Featured this year will be 70
artists new to the show, includ-
ing Seymour Rosenthal, New
York artist, with lithographs por-
traying customs of the Jewish
people. Mr. Rosenthal's work
hangs in the New York Metro-
politan Museum.
The art will be judged by
gallery owners Ann Kuffler (Ar-
iana Gallery) and Andy Sharkey
from Royal Oak, and Riki Schaf-
fer of Pontiac. The Art Cafe with
music will be open during the
show. Saturday will introduce
Low Tea, and Sunday, Bagels
and Beethoven.
Live music and a wine and
cheese gala with artists will open
the show Nov. 3 from 6 to 11 p.m.
for $10 admission. The show will
continue Saturday and Sunday,
November 4, 5 from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. with free admision.
