Rabbi Reuven Hammer will be the speaker. Members of the Can- tors Council of Detroit will present selected musical highlights. Spon- sored by the Agency for Jewish education and in cooperation with the Jewish Educators Coun- cil, the conference will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 8:45 a.m.- 2:45 p.m. at Temple Israel. After registration and a conti- nental breakfast, the event will open with a presentation by Debbie Friedman, singer, song- writer and educator, and Rabbi Elliot Dorff, rector and professor of philosophy from the Univer- sity of Judaism in Los Angeles. They will discuss Jewish text and introduce original songs by Ms. Friedman. Participants will then have the opportunity to participate in morning and afternoon work- shop sessions.
