Chanukah Gifts

The Cooperative Council, in con-

ish Women's Organizations, will
prepare Chanukah gift packages
for nursing homes, client insti-
tutions, JARC and Kadima. The
gifts are to be knitted scarves,
gloves, mittens and hats.

eral meeting on Sunday, Oct. 22,
12:30 p.m. at Sutton Place Apart-
ments clubhouse.
Kay Duncan, docent with the
Detroit Institute of Art, will pre-
sent a program with slides titled
"Gallery Mates." A petite brunch
will be served. There is a charge.

Betty Provizer Starkman will
speak on "Route to Roots" at the
Beth Shalom Sisterhood Mem-
bership Luncheon, Thursday,
Oct. 26, at the synagogue.
Ms. Starkman is the founder
of the Jewish Genealogical Soci-
ety of Michigan. She has lectured
at national and international
meetings and been invited to
China to participate in the first
conference on "Jews in Old chi-
na" sponsored by Harvard Uni-
versity.
Ms. Starkman encourages
those attending to bring any old
family documents with them for
discussion.
To make it easier for women
with young children to attend the
meeting, sisterhood will provide
a babysitter during the luncheon
