As pastor of the Messiah Bap-
tist Church in Los Angeles, he
was called upon to heal during
the riots of 1992, reaching out to
those left homeless and troubled
by the violence. He also built
alliances with the Am erican Jew-
ish Committee and with Rabbi
John Rosove of Hollywood's Tem-
ple Israel. When Messiah Bap-
tist Church was heavily damaged
in the Los Angeles Quake, Rabbi
Rosove opened his doors to
Reverend Flowers and his
flock.
The American Jewish Com-
mittee, Detroit Chapter and
Temple Beth El will welcome
Pastor Flowers and members of
his congregation to the special
Sabbath service which is open to

bat will follow the 8 p.m. services.
