Armchair Travels
At Adat Shalom

"From the Rooftop of the
World... to Its Cellar" is an arm-
chair journey with Rabbi Efry
Spectre of Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue, which will travel from the
Indian Ocean to the Himalayas,
Jordan, the Dead Sea, and the
Lost City of Petra.
Sponsored by the synagogue's
Adult Study Commission, this
two-part series will take place at
7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26,
and Nov. 2. Slides will illustrate
the tours.
The Oct. 26 evening will fea-
ture a description of Rabbi Spec-
tre's trip to India. Next month's
program will highlight his visit
to Jordan. Light refreshments
and music of the regions will en-
hance both evenings.
There is no charge.

The Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center will feature the
following events; Tuesday, Oct.
17, at 1 p.m. the Hearing Loss
Support Group will hold its reg-
ular meeting facilitated by David
Luffman. Wednesday, Oct. 18,
the Lunch Learn Series will fea-
ture "Who Should Decide: Life or
Death" with Rabbi Herbert
Yoskowitz of Congregation Beth
Achim. The lecture will start at

On Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1
p.m., Current Events with Phyl-
lis Young discusses "How local
and international events affect

formance of the Bolshoi
Symphony Concert at Hill Au-

The first in the series will be 'The

Bible has been portrayed by
artists throughout the years.
