It is a favorite gathering spot
for singles 25 to 50, and quite a
fun hangout after work, particu-
larly on Wednesdays, Fridays
and Saturdays, for professionals
both single and married, plus cou-
ples.
People have been known to
come to Norman's Eton Street
Station to celebrate their mar-
riage at the place where they met.
Music and dancing is featured
Wednesday through Saturday ...
with contemporary, jazz and top
40 on Wednesday and Thursday
... and dancing featured Friday
and Saturday.
The restaurant whirl has been
a long haul for Bonnie and Norm
... He has been in the food busi-
ness since 1971, when Norm had
a donut shop in Dearborn
Heights ... Their first restaurant
was Squire's Table in 1973, with
it becoming Nifty Norman's in
1975.
He is a restaurant workaholic,
spending around 75 hours a week
between Norman's Eton Street
Station, Mac & Ray's and East
Side Mario's in Livonia and
Rochester Hills.
Amid the splendor of the for-
mer Birmingham train station,
Eton Street Station restaurant,
with its mirrored walls in the for-
mer station's restrooms, now a
fine dining area; 70-year-old
framed prints on the walls, 100-
seat patio, green linen napkins
and burgundy linen napkins, the
bar built from a picture of the
Shlitz Brewery Palm Gardens
restaurants around the country,
Oriental rugs, walls with a cou-
ple of hobo artwork mirrors made
by idlers in the '20s and '30s, and
all-around ambiance of yester-
years ... is the coveted restaurant
know-how of success that has fol-
lowed Bonnie and Norm.
Today, people take for grant-
ed this marvel of another era,
never realizing the horrid con-
dition in which it had been left for
20 years.
And why should they? ... The
thing of importance is not that
Norman's Eton Street Station is
the renovation of a historical site,
but that it has become so popu-
lar a leading restaurant with
good value received.
Restaurateurs with the "get
rich quick" attitude usually fail
... Sound restaurant people, like
Bonnie and Norm LePage, are
satisfied with their share of the
market ... as long as they can look
at the door and see people re-
turning.
There is nothing like a happy
customer ... Norman's Eton
Street Station should know ... It
has a lot of them.
THE OPENING of Peking
Garden Restaurant finally ar-
rived in Applegate Square,
Northwestern Highway and
Inkster ... and seats 130 for lunch
and dinner all seven days.
Oriental cuisine served is

Szechuan, Hunan and Chinese.
Its owners also have the Em-
pire Szechuan Garden in War-
ren.

after a mild stroke in Florida,
where he now lives ... Phil has
been staying with daughter Jack-
ie, and son-in-law Mike Kallen.
MARVIN YAGODA isn't
goofy ... Just smart ... A heck of a
merchandiser ... His Crazy Hal-
loween Party at Marvelous Mar-
vin's Mechanical Museum on
Orchard Lake Road is with props
from a Hollywood source ...
Corpse laying outside, too ... A
Hollywood prop, of course.
CHILDREN'S DEPT. ... In
Laguna Hills, Calif., former De-
troiter Dr. Allan Weiss came
home and 5-year-old Sarah Joy
was all smiles as she held a rose
... Allan asked where she got it,
and Sarah Joy said a boy in her
class asked her to marry him ...
The little kindergarten lassie
told Allan that she asked him
if he had "cooties" ... "He said no,
so I said I would marry him" ...
Sarah Joy is the granddaughter
of localites Ruth and Harold
Weiss.

It is in Country Village on 12
Mile and Evergreen, still cater-
ing with customized menus for

firm, with Annabel's serving na-
tive dishes.
DISA 'N DATA ... Fifth An-
niversary party by Too Chez on
Sheraton Drive in Novi is Oct. 22,
