Installation Dinner

The Wayne State University
Cohn-Haddow Center for Juda-
ic Studies together with the
Midrasha Center for Adult Jew-
ish Learning will present "Can
Peace Still Work?" on Thursday,
Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at Border's
Books and Music, Orchard Lake
Rd. Farmington Hills. This pro-
gram will involve study session
with senior Israeli and Arabic
journalists covering the peace
process.
Washington correspondents
Akiva Eldar of Haaretz , and
Hisham Melhem of As Safir, will
lead the discussion.

The Congregation Shaarey
Zedek Men's Club will host a
combined installation and paid-
up member's dinner on Thurs-
day, Oct. 26, 6 p.m., at the B'nai
Israel Center. Dr. Mark Diem
will be installed by Rabbi Irwin
Groner, along with the following
officers: Richard Jacobs, presi-
dent elect; Ralph Zuckman, vice
president; Steven Korn, trea-
surer; Gershon Blumstein,
membership secretary; Andrew
Beider, corresponding secretary;
and Michael Langnas, recording
secretary.
The evening, which is free to
paid-up members, will feature
dinner and will be followed by a
new production by the Mighty
Men's Club Art Players. Written
by Dr. Bert Jacobs, it stars Dr.
Ab Ragins, Steven Korn, Mason
Himelhoch, Mark London, Bob
Bayer, Dr. Sam Stulberg. Music
will be provided by Bernard
Katz.

Workshops
For Educators

The Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion will host a workshop series
for teachers of grades kinder-
garten through twelve in con-
gregational and afternoon
religious schools. "Teach to Reach
All Children" is an annual three-
part series designed to provide
an ongoing opportunity for teach-
ers to develop techniques and
skills in order to meet each stu-
dent's individual learning styles.
Teach to Reach is part of the
AJE's NIRIM Professional En-
richment Program for Jewish
Educators.
The sessions are scheduled for
Tuesdays, Oct. 24, Nov. 14 and
Dec. 5, 7-9:15 p.m. at the Agency
for Jewish Education in South-
field.
This year's series, "Motivation:
Moving Beyond Stickers and
Stars," will be presented by Dr.
Shana Erenberg, assistant pro-
fessor and chairperson of the De-
partment of Education at the
Hebrew Theological College in
Skokie, Ill.
The workshops are arranged
sequentially and participants are
expected to attend all three.
Upon completion of the program,
teachers will receive six NIRIM
units. Teach to Reach is free of
charge. Registration is required.

Shaliach Speaks
On Education

PNAI (Parents of North Ameri-
can Israelis) will present Jeff
Kaye, shaliach of the Michi-
gan/Israel Connection, who will
speak on "Education in Israel-
Pros and Cons," on Wednesday
evening, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at
the Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion.
Mr. Kaye was born in Scot-
land and has lived in Israel since
1981. In Israel, he was a school
principal dealing with disad-
vantaged and learning disabled
youth; he has Also developed pro-
grams for Diaspora youth in Is-
rael.

JNF Hosts
Israel Mission

The Jewish National Fund Fu-
ture Leadership's Artzenu Yis-
rael V mission to Israel will be
Oct. 29 - Nov. 9.
The National Future Leader-
ship is composed of individuals
between the ages of 21 and 40
who support JNF's work in the
environment. The Artzenu Yis-
rael mission is specifically for
NFL members and those inter-
ested in becoming active in the
group.
