Combining the results with outcomes from testing pools of other ethnic groups, researchers concluded that 185delAG is three times more prevalent in the Ashkenazic segment of the Jew- ish population than in the gen- eral public. But, researchers say the study does not prove that women with the mutation run an increased risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers. In other words, having the mutation does not necessarily guarantee a diagno- sis.
