Twenty-two hundred Jewish educators, including 4 from The Jewish Community Center attended the four-and- a-half day conference, from August 13-17, and came away en- lightened and inspired. Attend- ing were Marilyn Wolfe, Cheryl Kane, Lori Golani and Sandy Zipser. Those who attended were able to choose among over 600 ses- sions - workshops covering every aspect of the Jewish School curriculum, new technologies, and issues on the Jewish commu- nal agenda. Courses were classi- fied for content under four rubrics: Torah, Text and Tradition; Am Yisrael; Creative/Cultural Arts; and Techniques and Tech- nology. The conference viewed a video- taped message from Ehud Omert, Jerusalem's Mayor, inviting them to come to Jerusalem for CAJE 21 and Jerusalem 3000. "It is my great pleasure and hon- or to invite you to come to Jerusalem in August 1996 for your Twenty-first CAJE Conference," stated Omert, "...in the united, un- divided capital of the Jewish peo- pie, in Jerusalem ...Throughout history, Jerusalem was always the heart and soul of Jewish exis- tance." In the evenings, CAJE Confer- ence attendees enjoyed a rich sampling of Jewish cultural of- ferings, including contemporary Jewish music, storytelling, dance and film. The Computer Center provided hands-on demonstra- tions of how to start using com- puters in the classroom, how to create web pages, and how to search the Internet to find Jewish resources and community. Sessions showcased Israeli soft- ware, a Jewish multi-media mag- azine and even hypertextual readings of a Jewish source text. At the Raquel Newman Media Center, teachers could view videos and films on a wide vari- ety of Jewish subjects from morn- ing till late at night. At the CAJE exhibits, which included 83 ex- hibitors, one could purchase test- books, Jewish-title trade books, cassettes, and Judaica fine arts and crafts. Participants in CAJE 20 repre- sented an international mix, with a group of ten British educators from Limmud (the British equiv- alent of CAJE), a dozen Israelis and nine from the Former Soviet Union,. In addition, there were South Americans, Australians, and a Swede. 6:30 p.m. — Family Hayride 12:30 p.m.— Video Series Continues 7:00 p.m.— Drop-in Bridge 7:00 p.m.— Varsity Basket- ball Tryouts October 3- 3:00 p.m.—Building Closes October 4- 1thoo a.m. — JPI Yom Kipper Services Building Closed JPM October 1- 9:00-12:00 — Health Club Membership Appreciation Day October 2 - 1:00-3:00 -- Flu Shot Clinic 9:00-1:00 — Bus to Senior Power Day October 3- 10:00 a.m. --- Generations Together Making Sukkot Decorations 6:30 p.m.— Kol Nidre Services JANICE CHARACH EPSTEIN lc- DETROITS INTERNET METROGUIDE MUSEUM Site courtesy of ONLINE MARKETING COMPANY http://www.metroguicie.corn GALLERY Find us in 9:00-12:00 — Health Club Membership Appreciation Day October 1 - Member. $3 a child ($7.50 max family) Non-member: $4 a child ($10 max family) 0(nie 7:30 p.m. — Family Fun Night • CAJE Conference, at Maximum Capacity - - September 30- - 1,,' Cost: For further information please call S a F department 661-7679 or 661-7691 Maple/Drake Janice Charach Epstein Museum/Gallery Opens 2 Exhibitions October 5 Artists Reception 6:00-8:30 p.m. October 4— AISHET HAYIL - In upper level gallery RAY KATZ: Detroit-New York, - Sculptures & drawings in main level gallery Public Welcome - Free Admission October 5- 1:00 p.m.—Blue Cross 9:15 a.m. — Yom Kippur Services Series: Crime Prevention for Seniors
