"I think there's some kind of
deep-seated, psychological need
for attention dating back to my
being a class clown," said Mr.
Muskovitz. He tries out his char-
acters on his wife and two pre-
teen youngsters.
"It's fun to notice how people
react to humor, and it's a nice
feeling to make people laugh."
While Mr. Muskovitz insists
he was the Israeli prime minis-
N ter during the Six-Day War —
and he probably was in the living
rooms of friends — he actually is
chairman of the Young Leader-
ship Circle of Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity and a member of the
Marketing and Communications
Committee of Jewish Federation
Apartments.
Dr. Lawson is affiliated with
Adat Shalom Synagogue and the
Jewish Community Center.
"We've brought some Jewish
things to the station," Dr. Law-
son revealed, tongue-in-cheek.
"Beginning next week, they're
changing from Q95 to Gimmel 95,
and The Jewish News is going to
/ be delivered here so we can an-
alyze Danny Raskin's column.
"There are a lot of days when
they'll let me chant my Haftorah
instead of doing an editorial, and
the company picnic now has bar-
becued gefilte fish."
Mr. Muskovitz, who volunteers
to bring his collection of voices to
events sponsored by Jewish or-
ganizations, adds, "We finally got
the other people at the station to
learn how to part the water at
Belle Isle so they can walk to the
island." ❑

Silent Film
At Baldwin

Stagecrafters will celebrate the
completion of the restoration and
installation of its 1926 Wurlitzer
theatre pipe organ with two
showings of the 1925 silent film
classic The Phantom of the Opera,
on Oct. 7 and 8, at the Baldwin
Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette, Royal
Oak.
This film, starring Lon
Chaney, is the first cinematic ver-
sion of Gaton Leroux's drama.
Theater organist John lauter will
accompany both shows, utilizing
the Baldwin's Wurlitzer to
heighten the drama of the film.
In addition, Mr. Lauter will play
solo selections before the screen-
ings.
All tickets are $10 and are gen-
eral admission. There is no re-
served seating for this event.
Performance times are: Satur-
day, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m. and Sunday,
Oct. 8, at 2 p.m.
