This will be no exception on Saturday, September 30 for Fan- tastic Family Night. Don't hesitate to show up for this two hour pro- gram which starts at 7:30 p.m. and concludes at 9:30 p.m. The evening will be full of fun for toddlers ages 6 months to 2 years and kids from 7 years to 12 years. All five indoor tennis courts in the Rosenberg Recreation Com- plex will be transformed into ar- eas to rollerblade, play soccer, shoot hoops on lowered basket- ball nets, and participate in par- ent-child games. Toddler activities will be going on in the rec. room in the Rosenberg Complex with an instructor who specializes in programming for this age catego- ry. Fantastic Family Night will be highly organized. There will be a half hour rotation of the above ac- tivities ac- cording to age. There- fore, each child will have the chance to participate in age ap- propriate activities i.e. rollerblade, soccer, and basketball. One court will remain open with a variety of sports equipment for all to play. The cost for members is $2.00 a child or a maximum of $5.00 per family. The first season of the new JPM Rockhopper Swim Team will begin with a free trail period from September 21-October 5. Reg- istration is now taking place for youths ages 5-18. The swim season will extend from September 21 to December 23. Practices will be held on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Par- ticipants must attend at least 2 practices per week in order to com- pete at swim meets. The cost will be $45 for members and $65 for non-members. Jason Spiller, JPM Sports & Fit- ness Program Coordinator will be the head coach, and will be assist- ed by Leslie Hawkins and Kristy Burns. The team will be competing against other USSA teams in the Metro Detroit area. Participants need to be able to swim only one pool length to join the team. The focus will be on physical fitness, sportsmanship, team unity, im- provement of swimming tech- niques, enjoyment and goal setting and achievement.
