`Lion King'
At Selichot

"Teshuvah and the Lion King"
will be the focus of the Selichot
program at Congregation B'nai
Moshe, Saturday, Sept. 16.
The evening will commence
with the Shabbat M _ inchah ser-
vice at 7:15 p.m. followed by
Se'udah Shelishit, Ma'ariv and
Havdalah.
At 8:30 p.m., the film The Lion
King will be shown, followed by
dessert and a disaission of the
major themes of the movie. The
Selichot service, led by Rabbi El-
liot Pachter and Ronn Nadis, will
begin at 10:30 p.m.

Musical Selichot
At Beth Achim

The Cultural Commission of
Congregation Beth Achim and
the Sephardic Community will
present a Selichot program titled
"Sephardic and Ashkenazic Mu-
sic and Ritual Compared," Sat-
urday, Sept. 16, at 10:45 p.m. at
Congregation Beth Achim.
Services will follow at mid-
night. Prior to the program, re-
freshments will be served at 9:45
p.m. For information, contact the

Beth Shalom
Religious School

Registration is being taken for
Congregation Beth Shalom's re-
ligious school. Directed by prin-
cipal Shoshana Ben-Ozer, the
Conservative Hebrew school em-
phasizes class continuity and in-
dividual student needs.
Meeting twice weekly, stu-
dents will learn Hebrew reading
and writing and basic synagogue
skills. Prayers and their mean-
ings will be taught to students at
their own level of understanding.
Updated methods will be intro-
duced to teach Torah, Bible stud-
ies, Jewish history, Israel and
the Jewish People.
Enrichment activities include
audio-visual presentations, mu-
sic, art and family programs.
Bar/bat mitzvah training and
youth programs also are avail-
able.
Upper grade will explore al-
ternative themes. A monthly
seminar, offering a higher level
of study based on various aspects
of Jewish living, will be held for
students in grades eight to 11.
Junior Congregation will par-
ticipate as a class on a regular
basis to strengthen their learn-
ing skills. Kindergarten will be
offered free of charge to members
and non-members.
