Mrs. Kahn was a teacher for 35 years and an executive with Richards Boys and Girls Wear. She was a graduate of Central High School and earned an English degree from the Uni- versity of Michigan. She was a member of Temple Beth El, the Allied Jewish Campaign and was active with clothing drives for the poor. Mrs. Lastar was a health education teacher and a 1919 graduate of the Emma Burtraw Raviler School of Acting and did a recital at the Detroit Opera House. Mrs. Lastar was also a 1923 gradu- ate of the Detroit Teachers Col- lege. During World War II, she was the head of the war bonds drive in Detroit and was in charge of 19 buildings and the war bond booths. In the 1920s, she was a runner-up in a De- troit Beauty Contest, a ballet and gypsy dancer and per- formed at numerous theaters as well as being involved with many theater groups. Mrs. Lastar was active with the Na- tional Council of Jewish Women, an organizer of the music study club, gave book re- views to numerous book clubs and was active with Hadassah and Brandeis. For 49 years, Mrs. Lastar was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Lastar. She was also the loving grandmother of the late Howard Lastar. She is sur- vived by her son and daughter- in-law, Kenneth and Faythe; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Dr. Robert Natel- son of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Shirley and Harold Podolsky of Southfield; grandchildren, Pat and Harvey Shapiro, Bob Finn, Steven and Shirley Finn, Kathy and Gary Young, Ricky and Carol Natelson, Sheryl and Dr. James Allen; 14 great- grandchildren.
