JPM Honors Volunteers
at Luncheon

ver 120 JPM volun-
teers were honored
at a luncheon on Fri-
day August 4. This year's
theme was "JCC Volunteers
Make a World of Difference."
International decorations and
expressions lined Jaffee Hall
and the day's program. The
Volunteer luncheon has been
a well loved tradition honoring
those who dedicate their time to
JPM's Senior Adult programs. Oak
Park Mayor, Gerald Naftaly, de-
livered a proclamation from the
Oak Park City Council praising
the work of these individuals in
both JCC programming and to the
City of Oak Park. After lunch, vol-
unteers were treated to the musi-
cal sounds of vocal trio Rivka

On Critical Issues

ormer first lady, Rosalynn
Carter, will speak at the
1995 Critical Issues in
America Forum, on Tuesday, Sep-
tember 12, 1995, 8:00 p.m. at the
Southfield, Plaza Hotel. She will
address, "Caregiving: Helping
Yourself Help Others." Kal Goren
and Stuart Raider, co-chairs of the
Center's Adult Services Commit-
tee are chairing this event.
Mrs. Carter is uniquely qualified
to speak on caregiving. She has
been an advocate for mental health
for over twenty years, and during
the Carter Administration she was
made the active honorary chair-
man of the President's Commis-
sion on Mental Health.
Together with her husband, Jim-
my, Mrs. Carter has been a long-
time supporter and volunteer
worker for Habitat for Humani-
ty, under whose auspices she has
helped to build homes for the
needy.
Her most recent book, Helping
Yourself Help Others: A Book for Care-
givers will be on sale and Mrs.

he Jewish Parents Institute
provides free Rosh
Hashanah and Yom Kip-
pur services to the community at
large. The services are secular in
nature, family oriented, and are
led by JPI members and associates.
The Rosh Hashanah services will
take place Monday September 25
at the Maple/Drake building at
2:30 p.m. and will be followed by
a reception. The Yom Kippur ser-
vice will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Oc-
tober 4.
For reservations and further in-
formation, call Elisa Feilich at 661-
7637. Babysitting will be available
for pre-nursery aged children.
