"Rehabilitation
helped me to
help myself walk again7

T

he inpatient rehabilitation unit at Botsford played
an important role in helping me to walk with my
prosthetic legs. The team of specialists encouraged
me to be self-sufficient. As part of my daily therapy, I was
expected to perform certain activities on my own.

Before I was discharged, the physical therapist and occu-
pational therapist went with me to my home to assure
I could move around my house safely and to make recom-
mendations to make my home accessible. My therapist
still checks up on me from time to time.

I continued my therapy by going through an
extensive, outpatient exercise program at Botsford
Center for Health Improvement. There I regained
strength, learned how to balance myself when I
walked and built up my confidence. Now I'm able
to walk on my own.
