The floors are black granite, accented with a tip-sheared black wool carpet. "It's supposed to be a like a 1930s European room," notes Winton- Feinberg. And indeed, one can imagine Fred Astaire cozying up to the large bar made of bird's eye maple. Six rounded, shell-like bar stools from Italy in a black and taupe stripe on black bases highlight the deco theme. Behind the bar, columns fea- ture storage to the ceiling. Halogen lights go over the work and serving areas. High bar tables and chairs overlook a custom pool table of bird's- eye maple. A poker table features six arm chairs covered in black gabardine with bronze leaf wood finish. Be- hind it, a 10-foot-long custom-made serv- ing table features hand-blown, hand-etched Murano vases. An exercise room off the media room is covered in a Donghia metallescent wall- paper and features a carpet in black, tan and taupe pin dot with a tan inset border. Light- ing the way is a 5-foot diameter alabaster bowl fixture with bronze ladies set in a bronze tripod base. The fixture is sus- pended from the ceiling. A sauna is near- by, as well as an indoor golf net for practice shots. A guest suite has an iron bed with caramel and cream bedding, a black sofa with taupe and black accent fabrics, and two chairs and an ottoman in a taupe leaf pattern. A black lacquered-linen writing table has two chairs in a matching fabric. The guest bath has black granite floors with cream marble diamond insets and a cream medallion wallcovering. A full kitchen has white cabinets, black granite counter tops and a white tile backsplash with gold swiv- el-stick tile insets. The playroom features life-sized air- brushed jungle scenes by James Labadie, and a study area with individual work areas and a computer for each child. "The owners wanted a very finished, very fine, very upscale, very sophisticated and very dramatic look," notes Winton- Feinberg. "He wanted something very dramatic. She wanted warmth. He said to me, 'I want every room in this house to be done as if it could be photographed for a maga- zine.' "
