The Art & Apples Festival, pre-
sented by the Paint Creek Cen-
ter for the Arts, celebrates its
30th anniversary in Rochester
Municipal Park, Sept. 9-10. Sat-
urday hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.;
Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Art & Apples is the major
fund-raiser for the Paint Creek
Center, which provides art class-
es, exhibitions and enrichment
programs year round. A sug-
gested donation of $2 per person
will be requested at the gate to
benefit the nonprofit PCCA.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m. both
festival days, Kommuter Kids
will operate a shuttle service to
the park from the Rochester High
School at Walton and Livernois.
Shuttle rates are $2 per person;
$1 for children and seniors.
This year's festival boasts 300
artists from 32 states showcas-
ing original ceramics, jewelry,
paintings, photographs, prints,
sculpture, toys and more in a va-
riety of styles and price ranges.
Dancers, instrumentalists, vo-
calists and high school bands will
perform on two stages through-
out both festival days. Youngters
can create their own art — free
of charge — at the Children's Art
Station.
An added festival attraction is
the exhibition of temporary out-
door sculpture titled Installments
II, made possible through a grant
from the Michigan Council for
Arts and Cultural Affairs.
All Art & Apples food conces-
sions are operated by nonprofit
organizations to raise funds for
community programs.
