Suspense Play
At The Fisher

`Charlotte's Web'
At Cranbrook

The all new national tour of Fred-
erick Knott's classic suspense
thriller Dial "M" For Murder will
open Sept. 26, for a three-week
run at the Fisher Theatre. Ed-
ward Hastings will direct John
James, Nancy Allen and Roddy
McDowall.
Tickets are available at the
Fisher Theatre box office and at
all TicketMaster outlets. To

Cranbrook Institute of Science's
presentation of Charlotte's Web
will be on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 3
p.m. at the outdoor Greek The-
atre.
The play is being held in con-
junction with Spiders!, an exhib-
it organized by the Smithsonian
Institution's National Museum of
Natural History. The hands-on
exhibition explores the wonders
and mysteries of spiders which
continues at Cranbrook Institute
of Science through Sept. 24.
The production will be pre-
sented by September Produc-
tions, a Michigan-based touring
company specializing in chil-
dren's theater.
Reservations are required and
can be made by calling (810) 645-
3230. Admission is $6 per person
and $5 per person for members
of Cranbrook Institute of Science.
The fee does not include muse-
urn admission. In the event of in-
clement weather, the production
will be held inside the Institute
of Science auditorium.

The Institute for Retired Profes-
sionals Photography Group will
present its fourth annual pho-
tography show in the lobby of the
Maple-Drake Jewish Communi-
ty Center Sept. 8 - 18. In addition,
selected photographs from the ex-
hibit will be on display at the Jim-
my Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center Sept. 20 -
Oct. 2.
The public is invited to meet
with the IRP photographers at
the opening reception Sunday,
Sept 10, in the Maple-Drake lob-
by from 3 until 5 p.m. Refresh-
ments will be served, and
admission is free.
The exhibit displays shots that
record excursions made by mem-
bers on group shoots as well as
many photographs taken at var-
ious locations and of varied sub-
jects.

JET Opens
New Season

Jewish Ensemble Theatre opens
its 1995 - 1996 season with the
production of36 by Norman Less-
ing. This tale looks at the lives
and antics of three Chasidim in
search of the last of the 36 right-
eous souls for whom God pre-
serves the world.
Previews begin on Wednesday,
Sept. 6, and the play opens Sun-
day, Sept. 10, running through
Sunday, Oct. 1. Wednesday and
Thursday performances are at 8
p.m.; Saturday evening perfor-
mances are at 8:45 p.m., and
Sunday performances are 2 p.m.
Matinee and evening perfor-
mances at 7 p.m.
Ticket prices are $11 - $22. Se-
nior, Student and group discounts
available. Infared hearing sys-
tems are available upon request.

Memorial Concert

The Cultural Commission of Con-
gregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses will present the Ninth An-
nual Walter Litt Concert spon-
sored by the Walter Litt Family
Wednesday, Sept. 13, 7:30 p.m.
at the synagogue. This year's con-
cert will feature musical family
playing music for every taste and
every age. Three generations of
excellent musicians will present
music from the world's violin and
piano repertories.
Mark Komissarov is a winner
of the Wieniowski Violin Corn-
petition; his wife, Margarita
Molchadskaya, is a member of
Leningrad Music School; daugh-
ter, Marina Zarkhin is a pianist;
son, Simon Zarkhin, a violinist.
Admission is free. Refresh-
ments will be served.

Suspense
On Stage

The Greenfield Village Theatre
Company will present Sherlock
Holmes, opening on Sept. 8 in the
Anderson Center Theater in Hen-
ry Ford Museum.
Performances will be Fridays
and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sept.
8 through Oct. 14, plus one mati-
nee at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.
Tickets are $10 each for re-
served seats, available daily by
calling the Reservations Center,
(313) 271-1620, ext. 383. A com-
bination dinner and theatre pack-
age at $29.50 per person also is
available.
