A statistician for the state of Michigan and also a clinical psy- chologist, Dr. Young graduated from Univer- sity of Michigan, Honors College with a degree in mathematics and psychology in 1978. She received her master's in psychology from Wayne State University in 1980 and her Ph.D. in 1984 from University of Colorado, Institute of Cog- nitive Science. A published author and speaker for numer- ous international conferences, she was also a reviewer for National Science Foundation for the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Division, Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences and the Minority Research Initiation. Dr. Young also served a reviewer for the Army Office of Research, IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processes, IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, Com- puter Speech and Language, Machine Trans- lation, Journal of Experimental and Theoreti- cal Artificial Intelligence, Theoretical Artificial Intelligence Journal, IEEE Expert, IEEE Press, IEEE Conference on Tools for Artificial Intel- ligence and the 8th International Parallel Pro- cessing Conference.
