Granader participated in many
high-school and college sports. He
especially excelled in baseball and
football and always knew he
wanted athletics to be a primary
part of his life.
Granader is a 1983 graduate of
Birmingham Groves High School.
He earned All-League, All-Re-
gional and All-State honors at the
school for his baseball talent and
also received an All-Conference
award for his football skills.
Granader went to Ohio Uni-
versity on a four-year baseball
scholarship. He played catcher
and third base there and started
every game his last three years.
Baseball scouts considered him
for the Major Leagues, although
he didn't make it, the experience
generated his interest in sports
management.
Granader attended Detroit Col-
lege of Law. After two years of law
school, he took an internship with
a law firm in Denver specializing
in representing professional ath-
letes.
Upon graduation in 1992,
Granader opened his own law
firm, World Class Sports and En-
tertainment.
Last year, Lee (Buzz) Turner
invited Granader to join his firm
to create a sports division. Cur-
rently, all of Granader's legal
counseling and representation of
athletes is done through Turner
& Turner.
Granader is still active in ath-
letics. He plays in the "YFL," the
Yid football league, every Sunday
morning from September through
December at Groves High School.
His team lost last year in the
"Matzah Bowl."
QUOTE: "Negotiating multimillion
dollar contracts for professional
athletes is a dream come true,"
said Granader. `The career is an
extremely satisfying experience
because I am able to combine my
passion for sports with my liveli-
hood."

Senior Division

/ NAME: Darin Glasser
TEAM: North Farmington High
School baseball
DEED: Glasser, 18, graduated Phi
Beta Kappa from North Farm-
ington High School in June. He is
a left-handed pitcher.
Glasser pitched at the school for
• four years. His junior year ERA
was 1.9, and his senior year ERA
was 1.15. Both years, the West-
ern Lakes Athletic Association
Class-A baseball coaches selected
him All-Division Honorable Men-
tion for his pitching talent.
Glasser pitched a one-hitter last
\ season against Walled Lake Cen-
/=tral High School. In his last two
years on the team, North Farm-
ington averaged a .500 record.

Several colleges were interest-
ed in recruiting Glasser, includ-
ing the University of Michigan
and Northwestern. Unfortunate-
ly, during a mid-April game in
which the U-M pitching coach
came to watch him, Glasser in-
jured his left shoulder and had to
stop playing.
Glasser began physical reha-
bilitation. His arm is now back to
normal, and he was able to pitch
all summer for a Livonia collegiate
baseball league.

Glasser will attend U-M's col-
lege of engineering this year and
try to make the school's team as a
walk-on pitcher in mid-Septem-
ber.

THE SKINNY: Glasser started play-
ing baseball at age 7 for Little
League teams. His coaches en-
couraged his pitching abilities. He
also played on North Farmington-
West Bloomfield travel teams.
Glasser graduated with a 4.0
G.P.A. and shared the No. 1 aca-
demic ranking with four other se-
niors in his class.
He was a member of the Na-
tional Honor Society and Rose
AZA. He has done a lot of com-
munity service at his school and
was chosen by faculty to partici-
pate in mock-government semi-
nars.
Glasser is the fourth winner of
the Cary Moore Memorial Schol-
arship, selected by school officials
for his leadership, scholarship,
athletic ability and teamwork.
QUOTE: "Baseball has given me a
great group of friends, a strong
work ethic and a competitive spir-
it," Glasser said. "Hopefully, base-
ball will be a part of the next four
years of school. If it is not, I can-
not be too disappointed because of
what the sport has already giv-
en to me."
