Adults can participate in the Kenard Lawrence Center's Creative Writing Work- shop with noted producer, writer and cinematographer, Ken Lawrence. They are so- cial events for seniors that Jerry and his family — wife Debbie, son George, daughters Lenore and Judy, and sons-in-law, Alan Singer and Dout Etkin have sponsored several times a year for the last eight years. The most recent "Summer Splash" event featured Sam Bar- nett and his band, balloons and decorations, delicious refresh- ments including halavah, and a great deal of good will and gen- erosity "The Center is a fabulous place for seniors to visit. Jerry, who was born in Rochester New York, moved here with his parents and grandparents when he was six months old. He lived on Dexter and Tuxedo, down the block from the original United He- brew School. He sang in their choir every day after school and also has sung in the choirs of B'nai David, B'nai Moshe, Shaarey Zedek and Adat Shalom. He owned Key Motors on Livernois for 23 years until he bought the property on 12 Mile and Telegraph and built and opened Glassman Oldsmobile in 1969. Son George, an attorney, now runs the business and Jerry, who will be 69, now divides his time be- tween Florida, golf, and enter- taining seniors at the JCC. His interest in seniors began many years ago when his parents died and he cared for his grand- mother for many years. Jerry and Debbie Glassman have 8 grand- children. The Center applauds the Jerry Glassman Family for their ongoing support.
