STAIR-GLIDE"

Gilda Radner's brother, Michael, took part last year.

n Sunday, Sept. 17, there
will be a 5K (3.4 mile) walk
sponsored by Gilda's Club,
a nonprofit social and emo-
tional support community for
men, women and children with
all types of cancer, as well as for
their families and friends. It is
named in memory of comedienne
and former Detroiter Gilda Rad-
ner.
Registration starts at 11 a.m.
and the walk begins at 1 p.m. at
Cobo Center in Detroit. The walk
will continue through Hart Plaza
and along the Detroit River to
Chene Park. It will end inside
Cobo Center with a party fea-
turing family entertainment.

Monies raised from the walk
will go toward the establishment
of a Gilda's Club facility central-
ly located in the metro Detroit
area. The facility will offer free
support services to cancer pa-
tients and their loved ones.
To register for the walk ($15 to
$20, children 12 and younger are
free), pick up entry forms at AMC
Theatres, Big Boy Restaurants,
Weight Watchers, D.O.C. loca-
tions or call Motor City Striders
at (810) 544-9099.
Volunteers are needed for the
walk. For more information, call
Gilda's Club Metro Detroit at
(810) 851-6557. ❑
