Seminar Set
At Beth El

Temple Beth El will offer a 15-
week seminar, "Introduction to
Judaism," for prospective con-
verts, non-Jewish partners of
Jews and Jews seeking a better
understanding of Judaism.
The class will be led by Rab-
bi Jonathan V. Plaut, rabbinic
scholar. The group will meet
Monday evenings, 7:30-9 p.m. be-
ginning Sept. 11 at the temple.
The course will focus on Jew-
ish practices, customs and cere-
monies; biblical foundations,
history, the basic beliefs of the
mainstream branches of Ju-
daism. Time for questions and
discussion will be allotted dur-
ing each session.
Couples are encouraged to
take the seminar together and
will be charged a single fee. To
register, or for information, call
the religious school, 851-1100.

Young Adults
Plan Cruise

The Jewish Federation's Young
Adult Division will host its first
event of the season, the annual
cruise along the Detroit River
aboard the Diamond Belle River-
boat, 7-9:30 p.m. Aug. 29.
Munchies, a cash bar and en-
tertainment by Star Trax will be
available. Advance tickets are re-
quired and are $15 per person.
The Diamond Belle is docked
at Stroh's River Place, one mile
east of the Renaissance Center,
off Joseph Campau. Well-lit
parking will be available.
YAD provides educational, so-
cial, cultural and community out-
reach activities for single and
marr=ed Jewish young adults
throughout the tri-county area.
