IMI oily Picon was born in 1898 in New York.
Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, she was a
leading Yiddish actress on the stage and in
films.
She began her career playing Yiddish roles in New York,
then entered vaudeville with her husband, Jacob Kalich.
By 1942 she had her own theater, the Molly Picon Theater
in New York.
Following World War II, Ms. Picon made frequent trips
to displaced persons camps and toured throughout Eu-
rope. During the 1960s, she appeared in a number of plays
including A Majority of One in London.
Ms. Picon, also the author of So Laugh A Little, died
last year.
