IDA STEIN SIDEN, 99, for-
mer Detroiter of Santa Monica,
Calif., died Aug. 16. Mrs. Siden
was a building contractor and
was a member of Temple Beth
El. Mrs. Siden was the beloved
wife of the late Edward Stein
and the late Maurice Siden.
She is survived by a daughter
and son-in-law, Shirley Mae
and Jack Epps of Los Angeles;
daughter-in-law, Majorie Stein
of Bloomfield Hills; step-daugh-
ter, Mrs. Martin Mattler; step-
son, Franklin Siden; grandchil-
dren and great-grandchildren.

SYLVIA STEIN, 74, of Farm-
ington Hills, died Aug. 20. Mrs.
Stein was the second woman to
win an individual bridge life
master championship in 1957.
She won many women's pairs
championships at the national
level and represented the Unit-
ed States twice in international
bridge championships. She is
survived by her husband, Har-
ry; son and daughter-in-law,
Ben and Susan of West Bloom-
field; a granddaughter, Jennifer
Stein of West Bloomfield; broth-
ers and sister-in-law, William
Sarut of Modesto, Calif ,
Bernard Sarut of Grand
Rapids, Kenneth and Pauline
Sarut of Livonia; sister, Flo-
rence Bailin of Bloomfield Hills.
Interment at Machpelah Ceme-

ALAN UPFALL, 32, of South-
field, died Aug. 17. Mr. Upfall
was the beloved son of the late

Minna Margaret Upfall and the

Fat inington Hills, died Aug. 21.
She was a buyer of women's
clothing for retail stores. She
was a member of Hadassah.
Mrs. Weiner was the beloved
wife of the late Morris Weiner,
the loving mother of the late
Helen Weiner. She is survived
by son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Gershon and Jeannie of Farm-
ington Hills; grandchildren,
Bruce and Sharon Weiner, San-
dra and Chaim Mishory, Joel
Jackson; great- grandchildren,
Stuart, Reena and Avi Mishory,
Michael and Hillary Weiner.
