versity. Mr. Jeffries is not and has
never been a professor at NYU.
He is employed by City College
of New York (CCNY), which is a
public college within the City
University of New York (CUNY)
system. It should also be noted
that when Leonard Jeffries was
invited by the Black Student
Union to speak at the NYU cam-
pus, he was met by many Jewish
and non-Jewish students protest-
ing his appearance.

I WITH THIS AD

In a saucepan, combine shredded cabbage with all other ingre-
dients, except apples. Cover and cook over moderate heat for 15
minutes, tossing several times so the cabbage will cook evenly.
Add apples, and toss again. Cover, and cook 5 minutes longer.
Add sugar.
If more water is needed during cooking, add two or three table-
spoons, but when the dish is done, all moisture should have been
cooked away.

As a Detroit area Jewish educa-
tor, I would like to publicly thank
the Agency for Jewish Education
for its generous monetary sub-
sidy to all educators from this
area who attended the 20th an-
nual Conference on Alternatives
in Jewish Education (CAJE). I at-
tended this conference this sum-
mer for the first time.
It is important that the Jewish
community be made aware that
there are educators in the city
who spend from four days to one
week at this conference annual-
ly, studying and becoming reju-
venated for the upcoming school
year, alongside more than 2,000
other Jewish educators from
across North America and sev-
eral foreign countries.
Attendees include laypeople,
rabbis, cantors, Jewish enter-
tainers and teachers. It is intel-
lectually and spiritually
stimulating to be a part of this
committed group of people from
all facets ofJudaism who share
one common goal: to teach and
transmit their knowledge and
love ofJudaism and Yiddishkeit
to their students in the best way
possible.
