Witness the coronation of a new
monarch as the annual Michi-
gan Renaissance Festival ush-
ers in a new heir to the throne
with all the pageantry of the 16th
century. Revel with his majesty
and the royal court as they par-
take in seven weekends of feast-
ing, folly and fantasy. The village
welcomes visitors Aug. 12
through Sept. 24, on weekends
and Labor Day.
Inside the shire of Hollygrove,
a realm of legendary performers
awaits. The festival offers con-
tinuous entertainment on eight
outdoor stages, as well as over
200 costumed performers with-
in the village.
Trumpets herald the entrance
of armored knights on horseback
into the joust arena each day at
12:45, 3:30 and 5:45 p.m.
Children may venture into the
Blue Care Network Children's
Dell where they'll find the T ,EGO
Construction Zone, daily perfor-
mances ofAladdin, free games
and crafts, puppet shows, and
more.
The festival offers a full day of
16th century merriment in a
unique village atmosphere. Over
140 craft shops offer everything
from unique wrought iron and
pottery combinations to blown
glass, weaving to woodworking,
herbs to jewelry, and much more.
Each piece is a quality, hand-
crafted representation of Re-
naissance artistry.
The Michigan Renaissance
Festival, located one mile north
of Mount Holly, Inc. on Dixie
High way between Pontiac and
Flint, continues on weekends
from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free park-

Rock 'N' Roll
Concert Set

The city of Oak Park will present
"30 Years Of Rock 'N' Roll" in the
concert during Oak Park's Mu-
sic In The Park concert series on
Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided
by Otis Day from Otis Day & the
Knights, Joey Molland from Bad
Finger, Beau Brummels, Larry
Raspberry from the Gentry's,
Cub Koda from Brownsville Sta-
tion.
This free concert will be held
in Shepherd Park, located at the
corner of Church Street and
Northfield. Patrons should bring
their own chairs or blankets and
a concession stand will be avail-
able. In case of rain, the perfor-
mance will be held in the Oak
Park High School Auditorium.
