Rabbi Amy Bigman Brodsky will
be the guest speaker at the Adat
Shalom CHaZaKaH seniors Au-
gust lunch and program on
Thursday, Aug. 24, at 12:30 p.m.
A native Detroiter, Rabbi
Brodsky is serving as rabbi/di-
rector of education and youth ac-
tivities at Temple Emanu-El.
She will talk to Adat Shalom se-
niors about "My Life's Spiritual
Journey to the Pulpit."
There is a $5 charge for CHaZ-
aKaH members and a $6 fee for
non-members. Send checks to

Prentis Manor, Jewish Home for
Aged in Southfield, will host its
Annual Family Picnic and Au-
gust Birthday Party to be held
on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 11:30
a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sponsored by
the auxiliary and benefactors of
the Jewish Home for Aged, the
event will take place at the home
in a back yard tent, with music
by Phil Gram Trio and parking
available next door at Federal-
Mogul.
Lunch will be provided at no
charge. Friends and family of
the residents are encouraged
to attend. If interested, contact

Senior citizens will receive free
admission and parking at the
Detroit Zoo on Wednesday, Aug.
30, at the annual Senior Citizens
Zoo Day, courtesy of Perry Drug
Stores and Rite Aid Pharmacies.
The event marks the introduc-
tion of Rite Aid into the Detroit
market following the company's
acquisition of Perry Drug Stores
earlier this year.
Seniors will be treated to free
admission and parking for them-
selves and a companion, free Zoo-
fari Tractor Train rides,
entertainment, and access to Se-
nior Alliance Area Agencies on
Aging representatives who will
be on site to answer questions
and provide information on se-
nior citizen services. Perry and
Rite Aid representatives will dis-
tribute gift bags with product
samples and have arranged for
a pharmacist to be on-site for ad-
vice as well.
The Detroit Zoo is open on Se-
nior Zoo Day from 10 a.m. to 8
p.m. and is located at Woodward
Avenue and 1-696 in Royal Oak.

Community Center will present
bingo on Monday, Aug. 21, at 12:30
p.m. A donation is requested.
The Glassman Summer
Splash Party will be held on
Thursday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. This
event is limited to JCC members
only and is free of charge. Get

Parenting Center
Offers Classes

Kitchen Table is a morning class
for moms and their babies, birth
through crawling (KT1) and
crawling through 16 months
(KT2). Ruth Beresh leads the
class Wednesdays, Sept. 20-Dec.
6, at 9:30 a.m. at the Jewish Par-
enting Center in West Bloom-
field. Babysitting is available by
reservation. There will be no
class on October 4.
There also is a Kitchen Table
morning class for moms and
their babies, birth through 16
months. Sue Seidman leads the
class Thursdays, Sept. 21-Dec.
7, at 9:30 a.m. at Shaarey
Zedek-Southfield. Babysitting
is available by reservation.
There will be no class on Oct. 5
and Nov. 23.
Stretch and Stroll is a way to
get fresh air, exercise and con-
versation. This walking group is
lead by aerobics instructor, Lau-
rie Goldstein, and will begin and
end with some exercise and
stretching. It will meet Tuesdays,
Sept. 5, 12, 19 and Thursdays,
Sept. 28, Oct. 5, 12, from 9-10:15
a.m. Baby-sitting is available by
reservation.
Music and Movement is for
mom and babies 3-16 months.
Instructor Lynn Breuer begins
this class Thursday, Sept. 14-
Nov. 2. Moms and Babies 3-9
months will meet from 9:30-10
a.m. and moms and babies 10-16
months will meet from 10:15-
10:45 a.m.
Challah Days is back Friday,
Sept. 22, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Ruth
Beresh and Karen Goss teach
how to make a challah to take
home to bake. The class is open
to everyone. To attend, call and
reserve an order.
