Park Concert
Features 'Sharks'

The city of Oak Park will present
Moose & De Sharks in concert
during Oak Park's Music In The
park concert series on Tuesday,
Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m. This free
concert will be held in Shepherd
Park, located at Northfield and
Church Streets.
Patrons should bring their
own chairs or blankets and a con-
cession stand will be available.
In case of rain, the performance
will be held in the Oak Park
High School Auditorium.

Folk Drama
For Children

It Could Always Be Worse a clas-
sic Jewish folk tale of a poor man
who lives in a crowded one-room
but with his wife, mother, and
six children, will come to the
Maple-Drake Jewish Communi-
ty Center Wednesday evening
7:30 p.m., Aug. 16 and 23.
Admission is $4 for members;
$5 for non-members; for infor-

Winners of the fourth annual
Morris J. & Betty Kaplun Foun-
dation Essay Contest were an-
nounced recently. HADARA
STANTON of Walled Lake was
a finalist among the Level II con-
testants (15-17 year old stu-
dents). In the fall, she will enter
her second year at the Columbia
University/Jewish Theological
Seminary Joint program.

DEBRA DARVICK received a
1994 Simon Rockower Award
(Honorable Mention) for Excel-
lence in Feature Writing. The
award was a cover for The Jew-
ish Parent Connection titled 'The
Compromises of Commitment".

DR. RAYMOND A. ROSEN-
FELD, Eastern Michigan Uni-
versity professor of political
science, has won a Fulbright
scholarship for the 1995-96 aca-
demic year. Dr. Rosenfeld, di-
rector of EMU's master of public
administration program for the
past five years, will teach at the
Institute of Pubic Administra-
tion and T.ocal Government in
the Cabinet of Ministers in Kiev,
Ukraine. He will deliver courses
in public administration and
public policy processes.

CANTOR ALLEN LEIDER,
son of Elissa and Hal Leider of
Commerce Twp., has accepted
the position of cantor/educator
at Temple Beth Orr in Coral
Springs, Fla.
