Dedication of T LL1 U) w CC 1.1.1 w 73 hrough a cooperative ef- fort Sue Frey"s kinder- garten class and Charlene Long's three and a half year old nursery class worked together on this very special quilt made up of different felt squares of Jewish hol- idays and symbols. Each child de- signed, painted, and worked on sewing the pieces on the quilt. The children got the idea for the quilt after seeing the AIDS Quilt exhib- it in the lobby of the Center. Through reading stories, the lass- es decided they could make a quilt with a Jewish flair. After complet- ing the patch work the children and staff dedicated the quilt to the Henry and Delia Meyers Chil- dress Library located in the Maple/Drake Center. Please stop by and see this magnificent work of art when you're at the Center. CC SUMMer Camp Workshop Benefits Forgotten Harvest J ver 70 pounds of peanut butter and jelly, totalling more than 350 individu- ally wrapped sandwiches, were assembled as a labor of love by JCC campers in Alef and Bet. The sandwich making was part of the Travel through the Torah Work- shop attended by this group of campers. At the workshop, campers created their own Torah. Each activity represented a sidra, (chapter), from its book. Ke- doshim, in the book of Leviticus (Va-yikra), teaches that people should be holy. Campers learned that being holy means honoring parents, leaving the corners of fields for those who are hungry, not taking advantage of handi- caps, and treating other people O 7:30 p.m. — Drop-In Con- tract Party Bridge August 15- 1:00 p.m. — Hearing Loss Support Group August 16- 12:30 p.m. — A Musical In- terlude 7:30 p.m. — "It Could Al- ways Be Worse" August 17- 12:30 p.m. — Drop-In Contract Party Bridge JPM Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - Noon — Woodcarvers Monday Wednesday- Friday 9:00 a.m. - Noon — Art Class August13 - Congregation Beth Shalom Week through August 19 - Opening Brunch 10:00 a.m. August 14 - 10:00 a.m. — 55 Alive Drive Training August 17- 1:00 p.m. —"Elie Weisel Film Series" Continues August18 - fairly.
