Berman Award
To Ms. Raderman New Leaders

Rhoda Raderman

Rhoda Raderman, executive di-
rector of the Neighborhood Pro-
ject, is the recipient of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan De-
troit's eighth annual Berman
Award for Outstanding Profes-
sional Service. She will accept
the award at the Aug. 22, meet-
ing of the Jewish Federation
Board of Governors.
Created by Mandell and
Madeleine H. Berman, through
the Federated Endowment Fund,
the award is presented to a Jew-
ish communal professional em-
ployed by the Jewish Federation
or one of its agencies. The award
is intended to promote and honor
extraordinary professional service.
Ms. Raderman has been di-
rector of the Neighborhood Pro-
ject since 1989. With her
guidance, the program has
helped enhance the vitality and
growth of the neighborhoods of
Oak Park and Southfield
through interest-free home loans
and programs. More than 800
people have been assisted in the
purchase of homes in the area.
Former assistant executive di-
rector of Jewish Vocational Ser-
vice (JVS), Ms. Raderman is a
board member and past president
of Kadima, an organization which
provides support services for
adults with mental illness. She is
also a board member of Jewish
Association for Residential Car
and the National Rehabilitation
Counseling Association.
She has also served on many
appointed committees for the el-
derly and people with disabili-
ties. Most recently she has
served on the strategic planning
committee for the city of Oak
Park and the Berkley schools.

There will be a casual, interac-
tive Shabbat and Oneg for young
adults—Jewish singles and cou-
ples—on Friday evening, Aug.
18, at 7:30 p.m. at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.

days prior to issue date. The deadline for
birth announcements is 10 a.m. Monday,
four days prior to issue date; out-of-town
obituaries, 10 a.m. Tuesday, three days
prior to issue date.
