Dr. Marvin Sonne has as-
sumed the position of member-
at-large of the Alpha Omega
Foundation, which grants mil-
lions of dollars in aid to dental
schools and clinics internation-

Dr. Joel Schaumberg of West
Bloomfield has been elected trea-
surer of the Alpha Omega Inter-
national Dental Fraternity, the
second largest international den-
tal association. A graduate of
Wayne State University and the
University of Michigan School of
Dentistry, Dr. Schaumberg prac-
tices in Farmington Hills and
holds memberships in the Amer-
ican Dental Association, the
Michigan Dental Association and
the Detroit District Dental Soci-
ety.

Dr. Robert Ross has met the re-
quirements for renewal of certi-
fication in pediatric cardiology.
He was first certified by the
American Board of Pediatrics fol-
lowing a period of graduate train-
ing in pediatrics and pediatric
cardiology and successful com-
pletion of the ABP's certification
process.
Dr. Ross is an associate pro-
fessor of pediatrics at Wayne
State University School of Med-
icine and works primarily in the
cardiology division of Children's
Hospital of Michigan.

Dr. Howard Korman was re-
cently named the most out-
standing house officer at Henry
Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Ko-
rman, who just completed his
urology residency, also won first
prize in the Henry Ford Hospital
Annual Residents' Research Fo-
rum for his work in assessing the
success rates of bladder neck sus-
pension procedures from the pa-
tient's perspective. Dr. Korman
has moved to Miami, Fla., where
he will complete a fellowship in
urologic oncology at Jackson
Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Marvin Sonne

Dr. Sonne served as president of
the Detroit Alumni Chapter of Al-
pha Omega in 1986 and as regent
from 1991 to the present. In addi-
tion to chairing or serving on nu-
merous committees locally and
internationally, he is active in the
Detroit District Dental Society and
Michigan Dental Association, for
which he serves as a member of the
Scientific Sessions Committee.

Dr. Kevin Frankel and Dr. San-
dor Terner have received their
doctor of osteopathy degrees from
Michigan State University. Dr.
Frankel will begin postgraduate
training at Botsford General Hos-
pital in Farmington Hills. Dr.
Yerner will begin a one-year ro-
tating internship, also at Botsford.
Dr. Frankel received a bach-
elor's degree in psychology from
the University of Michigan in
1991. He is a graduate of West
Bloomfield High School. Dr.
Terner received a bachelor of sci-
ence degree in physiology at
MSU in 1990 and also is a grad-
uate of West Bloomfield High.

Dr. Ernest Abel, professor of ob-
stetrics/gynecology and psychol-
ogy at Wayne Sate University, is
