this type of store. I didn't really
want to be in a mall. Somerset
has approached me, in fact, but I
think it's very difficult for a small
store to be in that mall and make
a living," she said.
She said the same customers
return again and again for the
sleepwear, cosmetics, perfumes
and other high-end bath products
she carries — goods other stores
don't stock.
"We give very personalized ser-
vice here. If somebody needs me
to stay open late, I do. My cus-
tomers come here before they'll
go to a mall," Ms. Karbal said. ❑
