Pat each half into round about 1/2-inch thick, 3/4-inch in diameter. Cream together mar- garine, garlic and parsley. Place margarine mixture in center of one patty. Cover with second pat- ty and press edges to seal. Sprinkle a thin layer of salt over bottom of small heavy skil- let. Heat over high heat. When salt starts to brown, place burg- er in skillet. Cook until well browned at edges, 3-4 minutes. Turn and cook 3-4 minutes on other side for medium hamburg- er, longer for well-done. Keep warm while preparing onions: Melt margarine in small skillet over medium heat. (If us- ing same skillet, wash off salt. Dry with paper towel.) Lower heat and add onions. Saute 10 minutes or until soft and golden. Sprinkle with sugar. Shake pan over heat until onions are carmelized.
